Wedding In the Eye of Islam


The meaning of a marriage in Islam is to gather and mix. According to syarak, marriage if Ijab and qabul (aqad) (or sole,misation of marriage that will allowed the relationship of man and women become hallal and that will allowed both of them to have intimate relationship and have childs. The Holy Quran had mentioned the term zawaj meaning that Allah s. w.t  created human beings in couples (man & women), make the relationship of both of them hallal by marriage and Allah strictly forbid adultery (zina-sex before marriage)


i.                    Reasons of Marriage


A hallal and safe way of expressing and releasing humans desire and lust. Marriage will be make people enjoyed life with his or her partner and lead a blissful and happiness in life. Marriage also can become educational medium to both man women and their children. Islam is very concerned in providing healthy, wise, having high moral values and most of all become a good muslim/muslimah. Marriage teaches senses of being responsible in every people engaged in them, that is the husband and the wife. Both will learn to be responsible and carry on their duties well managing their own marriage and family. Marriage will also fighten the bords (sillaturrahim) between husband and wife and also between the families and relatives with the wife’s soon they will become ane big family and helping each other in every aspect of life.


         ii.         Solemnization of Marriage


The ritual is held before the wedding ceremony. The most important ceremony in the marriage of malay community which it are connected to Islam. It’s not a custom but it is connected closely to religion and is the climax of a wedding ceremony. Solemnisation of the marriage is held just after all the dealings between both male and female have been agreed such as spenditure money, mas kahwin and other stuff as promised by both. Solemnisation of marriage can be held in the mosque or at the bride’s house and will be lead by Tok Kadi or Imam. The bride’s father must be the wali for his daughter’s marriage in this ceremony. The father can also represented Tok Kadi or Imam as wali on his behalf. The bridegroom will usually put on a light coloured of Baju Melayu while the breide wears baju kurung/kebaya the same colour as her groom.
